I wanted to design the sports uniform based on the Japanese kimono design. I have incorporated the obi, Japan flag and summer flowers.

 Hello, 

Today i went for a class at Rekindle to do spoon carving. I did 'whittling' on a piece of wood into a spoon. It took me 2.5 hours to learn the techniques and make a spoon. Whittling means carving a piece of wood by making small cuts.

These are my tools for whittling and spoon blanks. Spoon blanks are fresh pieces of wood used for carving. 

This is the spoon I made

Where did spoons come from? More about spoons. It was found in ancient Egypt, China, Greece, Rome and Britain.

Wow! Raku's leaf insects look so real. I think he looks at what he has collected before he decides what insect to make instead of the other way round. We sometimes cannot predict what we will get.

I collected some leaves, twigs and branches from my backyard. I also went for a walk at the park to see what I can collect. Then I brought everything home and tried to put them together to make my insect sculptures. 

  

I also added some rocks to make a background. These are my versions of a dragonfly and grasshopper.

Do you think it looks a little like the real thing?

 Hello everyone,

Let me tell you the steps to make dumplings. 

1. Prepare the filling using mince meat and seasoning (oyster sauce, soya sauce, pepper and sesame oil)

2. Place dumpling skin on dumpling maker.

3. Scoop filling onto dumpling skin. 

4. Put some water along the edge and squeeze to seal dumpling.

5. Deep fry.

6. Enjoy dumplings warm.

The national flag of Japan is a rectangular white banner bearing a crimson-red circle at its center. It has a width to length ratio 2:3

The flag is called Nisshoki but known in Japan as Hinomaru. It red circle represent the rising sun because the sun rises in the East and Japan is the first country to see the sun rise everyday.
