Writing W6 T3

 Hello,

We learnt about the different types of poems for our Writing Task today.

Haiku which traditionally originated from Japan is a short form poetry. It consists of three phrases in a 5,7,5 pattern.

Haiku is an easy way to start poem writing if you haven't done it before. This is my attempt on writing a Haiku on Stars.

Reading W6 T3

 Hello,

Today I am going to tell you about what i did for my writing workshop. I did a poster of ten hobbies that you might want to try while you are at home.

Hobbies often cheer us up and this is most important during lock down when many people might be feeling down.

Reading Task W5 T3

Hello,

Today, I am going to show you what i did for Reading. I made a poster for my Reading task about a person with a growth mindset - Ray Kroc.

Ray Kroc

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ray_Kroc

This is the story of Ray Kroc.He was a milkshake mixer salesman who purchased the fast food company McDonald’s in 1961 and made it into the success it is today. He had to work and convince many people of his vision. He also made changes to the business against the wishes of Richard and Maurice McDonald, the owners of McDonald’s. Ray Kroc setup McDonald’s Corporation to run the business. Although he met with failures along the way and many people did not think his ideas will work, with grit and perseverance he continued to work on his vision and McDonald’s became a worldwide success.

Growth

Mindset

Individuals who believe their talents can be developed (through hard work, good strategies, and input from others) have a growth mindset.

His story was made into a movie The Founder released in 2016.

Reading Blog

 Hello,

Today we talk about the four walls of welling , Physical, Mental, Spiritual and Social. Then we read and discussed about how money doesn’t buy happiness after $75,000 but other people said otherwise. Then we discussed about the things with the bullet points down bellow.

  •  “Outward peace is useless without inner peace” Mahatma Ghandi
  • Consider the four walls, what area(s) of your life do you feel you are most at peace with
Then we colour a peace sign and write a quote in it. Then we would make a Kaupeka Collaborative Peace Wall later in the term. This is my work down below.

Emotional literacy

 Hello,

For a task at school we learned about emotional literacy. It was fun to do and it helped me learn more about my emotions.

What does Emotional literacy mean ?

Emotional literacy is made up of 'the ability to understand your emotions, the ability to listen to others and empathise with their emotions, and the ability to express emotions productively.

To be emotionally literate is to be able to handle emotions in a way that improves your personal power and improves the quality of life around you. Emotional literacy improves relationships, creates loving possibilities between people, makes co-operative work possible, and facilitates the feeling of community.

This is a poster that I did explaining how I act with my emotions and what I can do to sustain or improve that emotion.

This is my poster:

Why Money can buy happiness

Hello,

This week for writing we had to write a persuasive text on a topic my topic was Why money can buy happiness.

 Why Money can buy happiness

You know the phrase: money can't buy happiness. It turns out, that's not all true. Money can buy happiness depending on how much wealth you have and how you spend it.

Research shows that happiness rises along with income, up to a point. A 2010 study looked at surveys of 450,000 Americans and found that people with higher incomes reported higher levels of happiness , up to an annual income of $75,000. After that, it drops off.

When money doesn't buy happiness

Sometimes money can’t buy happiness and most of the time it is short term happiness and after you buy the item you will feel good and will want to use it depending on what it is. After you use it you might feel like you want to buy something else.

Basic Needs

Being able to meet basic needs like food, housing, and healthcare are top priorities.  Then, the amount of satisfaction coming from income varies depending on things like the cost of living in your neighbourhood and your personal interests.

  • Increased comfort
I think People make more money so they may have the ability to purchase things that reduce suffering like a new couch. This is true when comparing to low and moderate income groups.

  • More control

In fact, having a sense of control accounted for 74% of the income and well-being.

Do you like money or not care about money ?
